I pulled the entire court record. She was not some dangerous, abusive mother. The case against her was essentially that she disparaged the father, allegedly interfered with his relationship with their child, and, as a Brazilian immigrant mother, could supposedly flee. Meanwhile, he was a partner at a prestigious Houston law firm. He knew exactly how catastrophic those allegations could become once fed into the family court machine, and he kept feeding them into it until the mother of his child was stripped of virtually all her maternal rights. So spare me the posthumous rewrite where he becomes some innocent man “following the court system”, blindsided by an inexplicable tragedy. He had vastly more power, money, institutional fluency, and credibility than she did, and he used every ounce of it against her. Fuck him.

Idaho is voting on whether to constitutionally enshrine English as our state language. It has technically already been our state language since 2007 and is currently enshrined only in Idaho code. Since Ranked Choice Voting was overwhelmingly voted down, and rightly so, by our state. The new trick by the democrats is to run as "independents" hoping that the voters haven't been paying attention. My opponent in the upcoming general election here in District 24, claims to be an "independent." Overnight the website, platform, and talking points changed when he entered the race, but the history tells quite a different story! And there is ALOT of evidence to compare and contrast. We see this in many other races in our state, but the point is that it is ever more crucial that we stay diligent and vigilant as voters to pay attention. We are California "lite" but it doesn't mean we have to go that way. There is still time. More are getting involved, more understand the necessity and sense of urgency needed to push back, not only against the cultural push on our families and children, but also the political and corporate push against our liberties and economic security and future. The time to stand on the sidelines is over. Let's do the hard work while we still can and keep Idaho republican!
