Doug and I continue to pray for all those impacted by the wildfires in Southern California. The latest reports indicate that at least 24 people have lost their lives as a result of the wildfires. Thousands of homes, businesses, and community spaces have been destroyed. President Biden and I are making every federal resource available to fight the fires and help Angelenos begin to recover. We are grateful to the firefighters and first responders who are working around the clock and putting themselves in harm's way to help keep communities safe. They show us the best of the American spirit in a moment of crisis.

12 years ago, 20 first-graders and six educators were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School. They should still be with us—finishing their first semester of college, teaching, laughing, and making new memories. We must honor their memory with action that addresses gun violence.

Doug and my prayers are with Ronen and Orna Neutra and all those who loved their son, Omer, an American, who we now know was killed by Hamas as part of its brutal terrorist attack on October 7, 2023.    The Neutras have been through a devastating ordeal these past 423 days, and we are heartbroken about this awful news. In my meetings with Ronen and Orna, I told them they should never feel like they are suffering alone. Today, as our nation mourns this tragic loss, they are not alone.   @POTUS and I will not waver in our commitment to bring home all the hostages held by Hamas, including 7 Americans, living and deceased. We stand in solidarity with their families and all those fighting for their release.

Yesterday, Doug and I spoke to U.S. service members deployed overseas to wish them a happy Thanksgiving. They have extraordinary skill, discipline, and dedication. They are an essential part of our nation’s strength. And we are forever grateful to them.
