I attended the Wisconsin Fire & EMS Memorial Final Alarm Ceremony in Wisconsin Rapids on Saturday. It was a beautiful and solemn tribute to those who lost their lives serving our communities. This statue is a powerful reminder of the dangers our first responders face and the work they do to protect others. We honor the fallen and keep their families and fellow first responders in our prayers.

I am honored to receive Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce’s Working For Wisconsin Award in recognition of my support for policies that strengthen Wisconsin’s business climate and economy. Here is a joint statement I signed onto with fellow legislators regarding Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin’s lawsuit challenging existing state abortion laws.

Twenty-five years ago today, our nation was forever changed. On September 11, 2001, nearly 3,000 innocent lives were lost in the terrorist attacks on our country. Today, we remember those who were taken too soon and the families who continue to carry their memory. We also honor the firefighters, police officers, first responders, service members, and ordinary Americans who showed incredible courage in the face of tragedy. In one of our nation’s darkest moments, Americans came together. Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember the lives lost, the sacrifices made, and the strength shown by our country in the days that followed. May we never forget September 11, 2001.

Congratulations to Abby Sekerka and Jaclynn Kaminski on earning the American FFA Degree, the highest honor awarded by the National FFA Organization. Only about 1.9% of FFA members earn this distinction, recognizing years of leadership, service, and dedication to agricultural education. I had a great time at the Scandinavia Corn Roast on Saturday! Great turnout and always tons of corn! Did you know corn is Wisconsin's largest crop by acreage planted? Last year Wisconsin farmers planted 4 million acres of corn!

Today, we honor the brave men and women who served during the Korean War. More than 132,000 Wisconsinites answered the call to serve. On Korean War Veterans Armistice Day, we remember their courage, sacrifice, and service. Thank you to all who served.

This past Sunday, I was at the Farm Bureau Forum held at the Griesbach Family Farm. The Griesbach's are 6th generation farmers! They are adopting and adapting new technologies to make farming more efficient and helping maintain Wisconsin's status as America's Dairyland.

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is offering low-interest disaster loans to Wisconsin residents, businesses, and nonprofits impacted by April’s severe storms, tornadoes, and flooding. Marathon County is among the communities eligible for assistance, including loans for physical damage and economic losses. WisDOT is proposing improvements to the northbound U.S. 51 exit ramp at Marathon County N/Rib Mountain Drive to improve safety and reduce traffic backups. The project would widen the exit ramp to add dual right-turn lanes, update the traffic signals, and replace sections of pavement. These improvements are intended to address a location that has experienced frequent congestion and more than 100 crashes over the past several years. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2027, and WisDOT is seeking public input through July 28.
