Social activist and motorcyclist Seher Hashmi, along with her team, is on a 58-day trip to cover 7,000-kms across India to raise awareness about mental health and encourage people to seek help without fear or stigma.
Hashmi and her team, who met the media at the Madurai Press Club on Wednesday, said the campaign, titled “Beyond The Horizon – A Ride for Resilience”, aims to promote mental health awareness, accessible support systems and community-based interventions.
The journey was flagged off in New Delhi on August 20 by veteran actor Sharmila Tagore and will continue till October 15, covering 12 states and Union Territories and more than 50 cities on the Delhi-Kanyakumari-Delhi route.
As part of the campaign, the team plans to conduct more than 100 awareness programmes and interactive sessions at schools, colleges and youth forums, directly engaging with around 12,000 to 13,000 young people.
The team is also distributing information on mental health, stress management and crisis support helplines in nine languages, including Tamil, Hindi, English, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Gujarati and Bengali.
