WAIT⦠SO DOCTORS DON'T REMOVE THE BAD KIDNEYS DURING A KIDNEY TRANSPLANT? THEY JUST ADD A NEW ONE?
I lost my dad, Christopher Olayiwola, to kidney failure in 2014, and I recently discovered something that has left me asking questions.
My dad struggled for about seven years with difficulty urinating and defecating. Eventually, his kidneys failed.
My family spent so much money trying to save him. We watched him suffer, prayed for his recovery, and hoped the kidney transplant would give him another chance at life.
But sadly, he died after the transplant in 2014.
For years, I never knew that doctors could leave the two damaged kidneys inside the body and simply place a new kidney in another location.
When I found this out, I was genuinely shocked.
My question is: WHY DIDN'T THEY REMOVE MY DAD'S BAD KIDNEYS BEFORE PUTTING IN THE NEW ONE?
His kidneys had failed, yet they left them inside him?
Please, I need doctors and people who have experienced kidney transplants to explain this to me. I genuinely want to understand what happens during the procedure.
My dad was a strong and gallant man. He fought for seven years, and losing him remains one of the most painful experiences of my life.
My Gallant father, Christopher Olayiwola, continue to rest well till we meet in valhalla where there is no sorrow
If you know how kidney transplants work, please help me understand.
