In a strategic partnership, the Directorate General of Training (DGT) and Shell India have come together to roll out a structured green skills training programme across selected Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs). This collaboration aims to prepare India's youth for the green jobs of the future, with a focus on Electric Vehicles (EVs) and clean energy technologies.
Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and Minister of State, Ministry of Education, emphasised the importance of forging meaningful industry alliances to equip youth with future-ready competencies, a vision central to this initiative.
Green skill training under the DGT–Shell India partnership follows a three-tier model, offering a 240-hour advanced EV Technician course at select NSTIs, a 90-hour job-oriented course at select ITIs with Shell-supported labs, and a 50-hour foundation module at other ITIs without labs, ensuring inclusive access. Jointly developed by Shell, Edunet Foundation, and DGT, the curriculum focuses on EV systems, battery tech, diagnostics, digital tools, and safety. Over 250 trainers will be upskilled through ToT, with co-branded certification and structured placement support, preparing youth for a greener, job-ready future.
