Interviewed a Palestinian prisoner the other day, and he said something that really stuck with me. He said people try to get you to think that being "pragmatic" means changing your goals. This is liberal talk. Remember, pragmatism applies only to strategy and tactics.

Nothing that Abier said in that tweet resembles reality in any way. And of course, funding ALONE doesn't determine anything. But MONEY is a component that exerts pressure, and that pressure is, of course, measurable in its political output.

Heading into another olive harvest period, thinking how vital it is that Palestinians can gather their olives and knowing settler violence can be expected, and watching Palestinians in exile and US based groups continue to put the focus on immaterial, PR imagery and symbolism.

Where were the Palestinian orgs outside of the UN yesterday? We can talk about JVP till the cows come home, and we will, but Palestinian organizers ceded that space and marched at 4PM. Why? PR arrests are not reflective of Palestinian prisoners being anyone’s compass.
