When we started building @ShieldFi, one of the first questions was how much should be confidential. The easy answer was everything. The cryptography exists afterall. We chose not to use it that way. The previous generation of privacy protocols treated total opacity as the goal, and we watched them get delisted & pushed out of onchain finance. Shield Swap protects your identity, portfolio, and trading strategies. It does not turn the market into a black box.

Early on, we met with a trading firm to learn how they traded onchain. They used fresh addresses across different networks and believed their activity could not be linked. So we tested it. We indexed recent blocks across those networks and cross-correlated trades by size, gas usage, and timing. Within a few hours, we were able to link several addresses with high confidence and reconstructed a large part of their trading activity for the quarter. The 5-minute version is below.
