Dr -- there is no "parole" in the federal system so you have her title wrong.
She is either "Probation" or "Pretrial Services."
Historically those were two different offices. "Probation" was post-trial/conviction, and "Pretrial" was -- pre-trial.
But the offices were combined several years ago as an efficiency move. Many are now simply called "Probation" while others still have separate divisions for "Pretrial" and "Probation."
Before trial you are under the supervision of the Judge, and that is managed through U.S. Probation.
Had to meet with my parole office yesterday. She's a sweetheart but why is the govt making me meet with a parole officer PRE TRIAL??? They're Making my life as painful as they can... what a waste of her time, my time and YOUR tax dollars...
