Masako Nozawa comments on the use of generative AI in voice acting: "I can't forgive using it without asking. I want people to follow the rules.” After watching AI videos of her voice: "This is not my voice. Using it without asking is unforgivable. It's the same as stealing, and it makes me angry. My voice is mine, and my acting is mine too. If anyone uses even a little of it, they should get permission." "What (AI) makes might sound like me. It might even be a perfect copy. But it has no heart, does it? Without heart, it's no good, whatever the role. Even a voice that's only crying is different when you cry with real feeling. That's what I believe." To young people aiming to become voice actors in the AI era: "Work hard so that people say, as a voice actor, it absolutely has to be that person. Without heart, you're just reading the letters of the lines, so make them living words."

At my last con, some people brought what I believe to be AI art to my table for me to sign. At the time I was too surprised to say anything, but going forward: I will not be signing any AI-created items if they are brought to my table, & encourage you all to find human-made art.

As an artist myself, I’m looking out for the visual artists trying to earn a living. I get excited when people compliment the art at my table, bc then I can tell them where to find them online! Or when someone brings their own art for me to sign, or share an artist’s handle w/ me

Hi everyone who’s coming to see me at Animate Philly this weekend! I may have triggered a chronic pain flareup yesterday evening—it could be general disregulation from travel but TBD. I’m going to try to stay upbeat (it could actually help medically) but I may be slower/less “on”

Audible will soon let you talk to audiobook characters using generative AI Its new Interactive Stories feature lets characters respond to listeners questions in real time

Currently the interactive stories AI bullshit is being rolled out with what appears to be original works made for Audible? That’s what I gathered at least. But eventually, we’re going to have a Hamlet chatbot and the world definitely doesn’t need robots trying to interpret that

Why do I even expect better from Amazon, though? When I worked there they had my team test the AI tools that would ultimately replace us. They’ll probably find ways to automate the other two features as well and remove humanity from reading and learning in favor of Robo Hamlet

He DIDN'T lose. Read past the clickbait image. The court dismissed Tsuda's request to delete the TikTok videos because they had already been deleted, BUT stated that a performer's voice IS PROTECTED by publicity rights. This is a WIN for actors in Japan.
Kenjiro Tsuda's AI Voice lawsuit has reportedly been dismissed ✍️ The Jujutsu Kaisen and Yu-Gi-Oh! voice actor sued TikTok over more than 180 videos that allegedly used AI to imitate his distinctive voice without permission. The Tokyo District Court dismissed the case after TikTok and the user involved had already removed the account and videos, meaning there was no longer content for the court to order removed. However, the ruling also addressed an important issue, recognizing that a person’s voice can be protected as a personal symbol under publicity rights. That makes Tsuda’s case significant beyond the outcome itself. As AI becomes increasingly capable of recreating familiar voices, the question of who has the right to use those voices is only becoming more important.
Community note
The image claims Tsuda "lost his case," but the Tokyo District Court dismissed the removal demand only because the videos/account were already deleted and ruled that voices are protected under publicity rights like images—the first such ruling in Japan. japantimes.co.jp/news/2026/09/3… asia.nikkei.com/spotlight/soci… automaton-media.com/en/news/voice-… invenglobal.com/articles/26662
