If you actually want to read a serious review on how web3 gaming design failed download our game's working paper pdf. Feed it into AI and then interact it with with any question you may have. Post mortem commentary by most is still just scratching the surface. It's why no one cares about crypto gaming, not traders, OG crypto guys and especially gamers. paragraph.com/@mayg/autonomo…

Many of you don't understand how serious this is, so let me break it down. In computer science there is a famous kind of puzzle called 3-SAT. You are given a long list of yes-or-no switches and a set of rules about how they must be arranged, and you have to find a combination that satisfies every rule. The obvious way to solve it is to try every combination, but each new switch doubles the number of possibilities, so a puzzle with a few hundred switches would take longer than the age of the universe to brute force. For decades, the smartest people in the field found clever tricks that made this a little faster, but every trick still hit the same wall: the time required kept exploding as the puzzle grew. About 25 years ago, two computer scientists, Russell Impagliazzo and Ramamohan Paturi, working with Francis Zane, turned that wall into a formal idea. They proposed the Exponential Time Hypothesis, which says this explosion is not a failure of human cleverness but a law of nature. No algorithm, however brilliant, will ever solve 3-SAT without the time blowing up exponentially. Nobody could prove it, but almost everyone believed it, and it became one of the foundations of modern computer science. Researchers used it as a measuring stick. If you could show that solving some other problem quickly would also crack 3-SAT quickly, you had shown that problem was hopelessly hard too. Hundreds of papers, across scheduling, graphs, logic and much more, rest on this one assumption. Now an internal AI model at OpenAI claims to have broken it. It says it found an algorithm that solves these puzzles meaningfully faster than the hypothesis allows, and it has checked the proof in a computer verification system called Lean. And here is the remarkable part: the very people who proposed the hypothesis, Impagliazzo and Paturi, along with MIT's Ryan Williams, are now leading the public review of whether a machine has disproved their own idea. So what happens next? If the disproof holds, a large part of theoretical computer science has to be revisited. Every result that said "this problem cannot be solved faster, assuming ETH" loses its foundation, and researchers will have to work out which of those walls were real and which were simply where we stopped looking. It does not mean everything becomes easy. The new algorithm is still slow in absolute terms and this is not the famous P versus NP problem being solved. But it means our map of what is possible was wrong in a place we were very confident about, and it was an AI that redrew it. If the disproof fails, the hypothesis survives and the field breathes out, but we will still have watched an AI produce serious, checkable work on one of the deepest questions in the discipline, closely enough that the founders of the idea had to take it seriously. Either way, something has shifted.
An internal model at OpenAI has produced a claimed refutation of ETH! Russell Impagliazzo, Mohan Paturi, and I have been asked to help organize an open and independent examination of this claim. 1/4

What was the most expensive game you ever played? For me it was Gauntlet, hands down. And it's not even close. Let me tell you why... In 1985, the arcade version of Gauntlet was released. There was an arcade mall a few kilometers from where I lived, so my friend and I would ride our bikes there almost every weekend for about a year. One game credit cost 50 Pfennig (roughly US$ 0.25 at the time), and we’d each spend around 10 Deutsche Mark per weekend, totaling about 500 Deutsche Mark (roughly US$ 250) over that year. In the mid 80s that was some serious cash for a teenage kid. So yeah, Gauntlet was the most expensive game of my life.

When everyone has access to the same AI tooling, and you're not an expert in the field, you'll never get past the novelty level of your product. If you use AI to itch a creative talent or curiosity of yours and get deeper into it, then that still takes a lot of commitment that produces real taste. We may be able to get that 'taste' 10x faster than ever, but it still is a lot of internalized knowledge and learnings. When you use AI to push yourself to 'go beyond' that's where the magic happens, exactly like Deku, but yeah, to get to the point where it moves hearts and minds, we are all just at the start.

I started crypto when I was 17/18, I use to be the new kid, but I am an adult now. I met my main partner in crypto when I was 25. Now, I am 32. I watched BTC go from sub-1$ to 126,000$ I watched ETH go from sub-40$ to 5000$ I watched BNB go from sub-100$ to 1000$ I never been more disappointed in the direction crypto is taking right now. We fought for 10+ years to get everyone to stop calling crypto a scam and a casino just for @a1lon9 and @Pumpfun to literally build exactly what we were fighting against and influence the same scam culture across every chain. You guys can say whatever you want but I promise you, no one is bigger than the program not even @Pumpfun and @a1lon9. It's not that @Pumpfun is a bad product, it's that the product is becoming fundamentally wrong and shifting from the fundamentals it told us it would have. Countless times. The reality is being rich doesn't make you a super star, being rich alone doesn't make you a celebrity. Being a loser comes in all pocket depths. If the main founders of this ecosystem and all its early participants are against what is going on you have to read into why they feel that way and what happened before that has everyone questioning it. See @a1lon9 even with all this negativity I still want @Pumpfun to win just not at the expense of everyone that showed up for you none stop for the last 2 years.

a critical vulnerability was just discovered in PHP. the language that runs 80% of the internet severity score: 9.2 out of 10. that’s about as bad as it gets what can an attacker do with this? take full admin control of a server. steal entire databases. passwords, credit cards, payment histories. plant malware and use the server to attack other systems but here’s the terrifying part that most people missed the moment the patch drops tonight attackers are expected to use AI to reverse engineer what was fixed within 15 minutes 15 minutes. that’s the window between the fix going live and automated attacks launching worldwide every online store, booking site, and corporate system running PHP that doesn’t update in those 15 minutes becomes a target this isn’t just a developer problem. if you’ve ever signed up to a website, entered your card details, or created an account online your data is sitting on servers that might be vulnerable right now and someone just publicly dropped the working exploit on twitter before the patch was even ready. gave every attacker on earth a head start engineers worldwide are pulling all-nighters tonight to patch their systems before the attacks begin change your passwords on any service that matters to you. enable 2FA everywhere. and watch out for fake “maintenance” or “password reset” emails over the next few days the internet is about to have a very long night

x.com/a16z/status/2111536578…
x.com/a16z/status/2111473277…

Dear President Kornbluth and Chairman Gorenberg, Yesterday, as I am sure you are aware, a Boston jury unanimously found that @MIT professor Kristin Knouse defamed David Sabatini, falsely accused him of rape and sexual harassment, and tortuously interfered with his contractual arrangements including his tenure at MIT. MIT and its tenure review committee relied on Professor Knouse’s statements when it took away David’s tenure and terminated him. MIT's policies explicitly prohibit harassment, retaliation, and fabrication of claims. Falsely accusing a colleague of rape and sexual harassment and pushing for his termination under false pretenses are clearly violations of MIT policy. In light of the unanimous findings of the jury after five years of discovery, many legal motions and countermotions by both parties, and a three-week trial in Suffolk County Superior Court in Boston: Is MIT going to take away Knouse’s tenure and terminate her? If not, why not? Is MIT going to restore David’s tenure, and apologize for firing him? If not, why not? In light of what has transpired in this grave miscarriage of justice, MIT has the opportunity and the obligation to right a serious wrong here. At a minimum, the public deserves transparency into what actions MIT is taking in this case as taxpayers are major funders of MIT. Sincerely, Bill Ackman
A civil jury ruled in favor of ex-MIT scientist David Sabatini, who was accused by a younger colleague of inappropriate sexual conduct in his Cambridge research lab, and awarded him $6 million in damages. trib.al/s3v9VIX
