United Nations secretary-general Antonio Guterres said on Monday that he is “deeply alarmed” over Israeli settler expansion and ongoing violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, warning about the risk of ethnic cleansing.

Federal Judge Roy Altman says he's taken "ten percent of all the active federal judges in America" on trips to Israel "just in the last three years." Now, he's apparently making state supreme court justices humiliate themselves by competing with one another to go on said trips. "Whoever's going to go is going to have to play Rock, Paper, Scissors to see who wins," he says he told the justices. I’m deeply alarmed by Israeli actions in the occupied West Bank. Settlements are expanding, evictions are unrelenting with Palestinians driven from their lands, settler violence is surging, Palestinian families are being assaulted.  We are seeing an increasingly coercive environment, with the spectre of ethnic cleansing looming ever larger.  This must end.  There can be no durable peace in the Middle East without the realization of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to self-determination.
