The best coaches don’t treat every mistake the same. Cooper Kupp makes a mistake. Sean McVay doesn’t immediately criticize him. He tells him: "Give yourself some grace." "Love you." "Sometimes it happens." That’s coaching. Not every mistake needs a speech. Not every mistake needs more criticism. Sometimes the player already knows. The best coaches know their players well enough to understand what they need in that moment. Sometimes it’s correction. Sometimes it’s accountability. And sometimes it’s simply reminding them: I still believe in you.
