Can we normalize being kind, respectful, and genuinely supportive of other creators?
Streaming can be an incredibly competitive and isolating space, and honestly, finding good people who celebrate you without comparison or competition isn’t always easy.
I get it. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I’ve been taken advantage of, had my work, persona, ideas, and even aspects of my community culture copied or repackaged by others. It can be incredibly difficult to know who genuinely respects you and your work, and who is positioning themselves closer to you for an ulterior motive.
But despite those experiences, I still believe in finding the good people.
Imagine how wonderful this space could be if we chose to elevate one another instead of feeling threatened by someone else’s success. If we celebrated different perspectives, styles, personalities, and creative journeys instead of trying to replicate what someone else has built.
There is room for all of us to shine.
Your creativity doesn’t diminish mine, and mine doesn’t diminish yours. We can admire one another without copying one another. We can collaborate without taking advantage of each other. We can support each other without expecting something in return.
Finding trustworthy people can be hard. But when you do find them, cherish them.
Be the kind of creator you hope to meet.
