The Hard Truth About DigiDollar
There is a hard truth that not many people are willing to say:
If we want DigiDollar to compete in the stablecoin market, we need a much larger supply of DigiDollars.
I’m not going to sugarcoat it.
We currently have 123,368.68 DD in total supply. That is freaking amazing for something built by a volunteer community, and we should be proud of it.
But the reality is that, in the stablecoin arena we want to enter, 123,368 DD is proof of concept—not yet enough scale to earn us a serious seat at the table.
Do not mistake this message for me giving up.
HELL NO.
I’m more confident than ever because I’ve already seen what this community can accomplish.
If you’re a glass-half-empty critic who only wants to explain why something cannot work, you can stop reading. Constructive criticism is welcome—but this next chapter needs builders, ideas, and solutions.
I’ve been studying the numbers, and every new DigiByte Core Wallet download could represent another community member getting geared up for September 17!
Core Wallet downloads are currently averaging around 40 per day. When compatible previous versions are included, I believe we could have approximately 3,000 to 3,500 compatible DigiByte Core Wallet users by Global Time Lock Day.
Downloads do not necessarily equal unique users or guaranteed participants—but the momentum is real.
There is also a mobile wallet being developed that may be capable of minting DigiDollars. It has not been fully tested yet, but if it arrives before September 17, it could remove one of our biggest accessibility barriers.
@ScryptWallet this your opportunity to shine. Lets get on a spaces event soon.
Here are the numbers:
Current supply: 123,368.68 DD
First major milestone: 500,000 DD
Next major milestone: 1,000,000 DD
To reach 500,000 DD, we need another 376,631.32 DD.
If 50% of those 3,000 to 3,500 compatible Core Wallet users participate, that would give us approximately 1,500 to 1,750 minters.
Using the midpoint of 3,250 wallets, 50% participation would mean 1,625 minters—and each person would need to mint approximately 232 DD.
If participation lands near the lower end, we would need closer to 252 DD per participant.
I understand why nobody wants to tell another person what to do with their money. Neither do I. A 10-year time lock is a serious personal commitment, and everyone must evaluate the risks for themselves.
But I also know what I’m hearing from exchanges. Whether we like it or not, exchanges remain gatekeepers to the listings, liquidity, and access that many of us want.
They want to see meaningful supply backed by genuine long-term commitment.
I’m not talking about one-year locks.
They want to see 10-year locks.
That is why Global Time Lock Day must be centered on 10-year time locks, with a community target of at least 250 DD minted per participant on average.
Some people will still choose to watch from the sidelines, and that is their right. But if we fall short, we must be honest enough to ask ourselves whether we were willing to build the future we keep saying we want.
Supply alone will not guarantee adoption. We will still need liquidity, wallet integrations, exchange listings, merchants, and real-world demand. But without sufficient supply and long-term collateral, many of those doors may never open.
This is our opportunity to bring powerful new utility to DigiByte and establish it as a true Store of Collateral blockchain—something other cryptocurrency communities could only dream of building.
Your DigiByte becomes the collateral.
Your DigiDollar becomes the usable value.
September 17 is our opportunity to show the world what a decentralized, volunteer-powered community can accomplish.
The community is the collateral.
Buy. Mint. Spend. Repeat.

Sorry for the disclaimer: This is a community goal, not financial advice. A 10-year time lock is a long-term commitment. Understand the process, risks, wallet requirements, and recovery procedures before participating.
