I just played Spyro: Year of the Dragon (2000) for the first time in 20 years. It's good, but has a few flaws. A few things I liked: •The home worlds feel cozy •Multiple characters/storylines is neat and a pretty gutsy choice for that era of games. •Levels are relatively short (15-20 mins), which I think helps the game flow well. Some things I didn't like: •Sheila’s terrible Australian accent… •The skateboarding minigames with Hunter are fun but clunky •Bosses were tougher than I remember All three of the OG trilogy feel so passionately made though, you can tell the devs and creative minds behind these games were having so much fun, the level design(s), characters, the bosses, the silly humor, etc. Overall: 8.7/10

I just beat Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! (1999) for the first time in 20 years. It still remains my favorite game in the series for so many reasons. A few things I liked: •The soundtrack is even better than the first game •Better voice actors (Tom Kenny as Spyro) •Moneybags was a funny addition to the series. As a kid he annoyed me but I love him now. Some things I didn't like: •Why does The Professor give me the gems that he supposedly needs? (Colossus level) •Seahorse torture in Aquaria Towers is… kinda messed up for a kids game •The Fracture Hills headbash minigame with Hunter was unbelievably annoying… Overall: 9/10

I just beat Spyro the Dragon (1998) for the first time in 20 years. It still remains one of my favorites for many reasons. A few things I liked: •The soundtrack •The game is genuinely relaxing without being difficult until the later levels, even then it’s not too bad •“Thank you for releasing me” is used a LOT by what is clearly the same voice actor, which made me laugh Some things I didn't like: •The minimal story exposition is kinda hollow, which is why I think the second game is better •Some tutorials being shown in later levels (I already know how to glide/hover by now) •Some lines sound as if they were recorded in a hurry and the producers just said “yeah okay good enough” Overall: 8.2/10

I just beat Ratchet & Clank (2002) for the first time, ever! It only took me 20+ years to do it. A few things I liked: •The game jumped straight into the action without excessive tutorials •Looks really good for a PS2 game, the jump in appearance is wild from Insomniac's prior work •Solid voice acting and easy to understand plot Some things I didn't like: •The Hologuise Race on Planet Kalebo III might be the hardest thing in this entire game •Ending area leading up to final boss was worse than the fight itself •The older controls were hard to get used to after years of modern gaming (no strafing on foot, no aiming while moving, etc) Overall: 8/10 Up next is Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando (2003)!

A YouTuber has turned solo Elden Ring Nightreign into a full time job, and the dedication is something else. Creator eauvni posts multiple videos every week documenting his runs, building up one of the most detailed records of solo play in the game's community. While most players are still struggling with the jump from Depth Three to Depth Four, he keeps pushing through it. The difficulty spike in Nightreign is no joke, and some players worry that the intensity of it might make other FromSoft games feel too easy by comparison.
