To eat ramen in Japan again as it rains outside. You drink a couple of ice cold Sapporo’s, have a nice warm buzz going. The broth is spicy, the beer takes the edge off. You’re full, content, and living in the moment. After paying you walk outside, light a smoke, and stroll softly to the train station. Observing all of these strangers living their lives, going to and from, their own thoughts, self talk, dreams, families, routines and behaviors. You walk through the hotel lobby, eventually to your room that’s lit softly by amber lighting, you’ve already got some special treats ready to go you picked up earlier, maybe some Hi-chews tropical, some pockys. You throw a movie on your laptop in bed, the curtains are open you can see the city, lights off now, movie running you start to doze off, you kick the tight sheets at your feet one more time, giving you that perfect amount of space. You think “ I have two more days here “ it’s a comforting thought, all your clothes are safe, no airport struggles just yet, life is good.
