most NHL GMs are ex-players who are offering these players fat contracts in the aftermath of that offer sheet.
this is the issue with ex players being gm’s — they have a mental framework from a different time. “I only earned x in my day and i had to work for it”, well its a different market environment today and the same rules/strategies dont apply.

The NFL confirmed today that line judge Jeff Seeman has been suspended for two games and referee Adrian Hill has been suspended for one game, each for an instance of unprofessional conduct toward a player in Sunday’s Arizona-New York Giants (Seeman) and Miami-Minnesota games (Hill). The suspensions were issued by NFL Vice President of Officiating Ramon George.
