Much of the sports #streaming world get excited about the idea of betting integration into the live sports experience. DAZN were one of the first movers in this space, alongside ESPN and Fubo, to name a few. They launched DAZN Bet and positioned it publicly as a huge needle mover for the platform's commercial performance, not to mention fan engagement. But like many others, the strategy fell short of expectation. Being the first mover like DAZN has benefits, but it also comes with a lot of bumps along the way. Hear our review on DAZN's journey to date on the latest StreamTime Sports Podcast: Pod: podfollow.com/streamtime-pod… Youtube: piped.video/1peQbHsP03A

When Netflix reported in an earnings call they'd lost subscribers for the first time, the entire media industry had billions of value shaved off its stock price within a matter of minutes. And with that, the entire industry went into damage control - shifting its focus from scaling at all costs, to the race to profitability. The impact to companies like DAZN were massive - and set their plans to IPO back years. Check out the full breakdown on DAZN's journey - available on the StreamTime Sports Podcast. Available on all good podcast platforms.

Few companies have generated as many headlines, sparked as much debate, or attracted as much attention in sports media as DAZN. This week's StreamTime Sports episode traces the complete DAZN story, from its roots in Perform Group and initial launch across Europe and Japan, through its billion-dollar betting on sports rights, the challenges of COVID, its pull out of France, and its shift towards from case scale at all costs, to profitability at all costs. We explore the key decisions, acquisitions and personalities that shaped the company, including Len Blavatnik, Simon Denyer, John Skipper, Shay Segev, and many more, before examining what DAZN has become today and what its future could look like. This was a fun one to record, I hope it's a fun one to listen to! Podcast: podfollow.com/streamtime-pod… YouTube: piped.video/1peQbHsP03A?is=PmyL…

The #FIFAWC wasn't just an huge success for the federation, it was also a huge milestone for the US's largest independent sports network. Can you guess who I'm referring to? Here's some numbers for context: → 200+ podcasts produced across all key channels → Spotify listenership up 300% → Streams up ~500% → 18-24 year old listenership up 500% → #1 media outlet for engagement-per-follower across the entire tournament (26.4 engagements/follower — beating pretty much every other outlet covering it) And they're not slowing down. This month they streamed live football for the first time ever (Spurs v Hoffenheim), reaching 10,000 concurrent viewers in the process. If you haven't guessed who it is yet, it's the @MenInBlazers Media Network, and I sat down with their Co-founder (not to mention host!) Roger Bennett. We covered: 🔹 The MiB business model and revenue flywheel 🔹 The state of football fandom in the US, and how it compares globally 🔹 the MLS vs EPL fan dynamic 🔹 The MiB journey from a 2011 podcast to a full media network If you've ever heard Roger speak, you know he's entertaining and insightful - so check it out on any of the links below: 🎧 Spotify: open.spotify.com/episode/1yE… YouTube: piped.video/watch?v=_R_sltQe… Other channels: podfollow.com/streamtime-pod…
