Just a wee Spud, trying to find normality in this crazy world

This 😂
moms of babies who are naturally good sleepers who think it was due to something special they did instead of realizing they just got super lucky have got to be the most annoying moms on the planet you shouldn’t be allowed to give advice on baby sleep unless you’ve had enough babies to have one that sleeps really poorly no matter what you try. and then you would realize that your advice is retarded because some babies simply DON’T SLEEP

Can anyone over 45 please let me know how I’m supposed to lose weight (without resorting Mounjaro etc) because after 2 weeks of ensuring calories out > calories in, and exercising like a demon, I can 100% confirm this no longer works 😫 #perimenopause

Quite
Weird how the same people who want their country to “go back to how it used to be” are so opposed to having their children live a life the way theirs used to be (pre-social media).

A lot of people seem to be objecting to the social media ban because they think kids can’t go outside and hang with friends any more because it’s ‘not the 80s anymore’ and ‘it’s not safe’. Just leaving this here: bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cgk8…

I hope we’ve not all forgotten that we confined these exact same young people in their bedrooms for months on end in 2020/2021 to ‘save granny’ and now we’re blaming them for not having all the skills they should have been developing at that exact point in their lives 🙄
Exclusive from @eleanorhayward Britain is facing an “economic catastrophe” as young adults “rewired” by smartphones are becoming trapped in worklessness, a government review has found A landmark report into why one million young people are off work says businesses must adapt to this “anxious generation” by offering greater flexibility and mental health support Alan Milburn, a former health secretary, was appointed by Sir Keir Starmer to investigate the 946,000 16 to 24-year-olds not in education, employment or training, known as Neets His interim report, to be published next week, says that a “rising tide of mental ill-health, anxiety, depression, neurodiversity” is the main reason for high economic inactivity Milburn said that these young people “are not snowflakes or faking it”, adding that their heightened distress and anxiety is linked to growing up in a digital age on social media The review team held focus groups with young people, which revealed smartphones had led to poorer sleep and mental distress. “Every one of a group of ten 12 and 13-year-olds told us they went to bed between midnight and 3am because they were scrolling on their phone,” the review says Milburn said: “This is a bedroom generation. They are sort of living in their bedrooms. They are on all the time, they’re never off. [Social media] is leading to some evidence of functional impairment, changing their sleep patterns, concentration levels. That is having an impact on their ability to work “ thetimes.com/article/304dbf2…

Really disappointed to see so many people on here, who advocated so strongly for bodily autonomy over the COVID vaccine, seemingly being against bodily autonomy for the terminally ill when it comes to #AssistedDying

Hi @NicolaSturgeon @jasonleitch we are waiting for the apology
MASKING CHILDREN: Masks seemed like good idea at beginning of pandemic of new pathogen; but we have to admit (to regain trust in public health) that the best quality data does not show mask mandates effective (of course anyone can wear fit/filtered mask) sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

Do the toddler maskers in the US realise that their country was a global outlier when it came to masking toddlers? And that even the WHO didn’t recommend it?
The toddler maskers are upset at @MartinKulldorff for quoting @HRaleighspeaks in a piece that correctly points out that toddler masking was both cruel and useless for infection control. I guess that means the toddler maskers still want to mask toddlers.

Even if this is true, the question we need to ask is, at what cost? And was the cost worth it?

Yup
Not only is it *not* the brightest and the best of us who enter politics, but it actively selects for some of the very worst people in the world to become leaders of entire nations. This is a pretty scary thing to realise.

I don’t think this tweet is going the way the EIS thought it would
We are asking parents with children in the constituencies affected by targeted strike action, to contact Govt leaders, urging them to compromise & find a solution to the current dispute. A model text, provided by an EIS member, is available on our website eis.org.uk/pay-attention/con…

Nailed it
All true. I do feel some are reluctant to acknowledge what a big effect the response to COVID had. Teachers find it hard to admit that something many supported may have done harm & I sense a keenness to deflect in some quarters.

Replying to @IndependentSage
@IndependentSage member @trishgreenhalgh's claim on @bbc5live that Cases were going up very, very rapidly in July 2020, then masks immediately brought them under control was so ridiculous, that even the fact checkers called out her lies. fullfact.org/health/5live-ma… via @FullFact

This is what school closures did - yet the EIS pushed to close schools in winter 2020/21 and they continued to demand restrictions and masks in schools until spring 2022. As a parent I can hardly read this without weeping 😭
Whilst data paints an outline of the impact of COVID on learners' achievement of CfE levels, the figures do not capture the deep, complex & enduring impacts of the pandemic on learners’ engagement in learning, or their wider health & wellbeing needs. eis.org.uk/latest-news/pande…

There were many people warning this would happen if we destroyed people’s trust in public health through coercion and bad messaging. Awful.
The uptake of lifesaving childhood vaccinations has plummeted to the lowest level for a decade amid fears antivax myths are discouraging parents from booking appointments thetimes.co.uk/article/fears…
