The additions of Eddie Johnson and Ricky Pierce helped reshape a Sonics team that was in disarray following, what Gary Payton called, a card game gone sideways (and more) between Xavier McDaniel and Dale Ellis.
The Sonics turned from middling into a contender after the trades.
Loved these guys. When I got there from Phoenix. It was bad, but we turned it around and took the Blazers( who had the best record) to a deciding 5th game!

I was asked recently how does #NBA RAPM data compare the 1980's players. So I ran it on the partial data I have. Some of the players makes sense.
But there's a long way to go. Data is only from games during the 1980 through 1989 seasons.

I've gone through 66 complete games of Eddie Johnson between 1989 and 1991, including constructing analytics on his shot data and performance.
He could most definitely put up 30 in 25 minutes. His efficiency in a non-spacing era like 1989 was top tier.
In 1989 I averaged 22 in 29 minutes. If I was allowed to do this I would have averaged 30 in 25 minutes. This is egregious!
