And my report on the 1A final as @StMarysRFC ended their long wait for 1A silver. Only their second season in 1A after a long fought battle in 1B, some amazing achievement by the club

@StMarysRFC becoming All Ireland League winners 2025/26 👏🇸🇴

Having played a key role in @StMarysRFC historic first All-Ireland League Division 1A title win back in 2000 as the team’s top scorer, head coach Mark McHugh reflected on a special full-circle moment as Mary’s ended a 14-year wait for silverware. Their 46-31 victory over Clontarf RFC at the Aviva Stadium marked a return to the top in the #EnergiaAIL with McHugh now guiding the side from the touchline after having starred on the pitch during their previous triumph. Speaking after the game, he reflected on what has been a great season for Mary’s, not only winning 1A but the school winning the Senior Cup, and the journey from relegation in 2017, to fighting it out to 1B, to being champions in just their second season back in the top flight.

Conor Dean joined a very exclusive group on Saturday evening as he became just the third captain to lift the #EnergiaAIL Division 1A title for @StMarysRFC . Following in the footsteps of Trevor Brennan in 2000 and Hugh Hogan in 2012, Dean captained his side to a memorable 46-31 victory over Clontarf at the Aviva Stadium, even adding his own name to the scoresheet with a try in the final. Speaking after the on-field celebrations, he reflected on what had been an emotional week for the club following the passing of Breda Fogarty. Having joined St Mary’s back in 2016 and reaching centurion status this season, this moment was one of huge significance for Dean, though he admitted the magnitude of the achievement had yet to fully sink in. It was a fitting milestone for Dean, leading his side to glory and cementing his place in the club’s history.

It was a special moment yesterday for Mick O’Gara as he helped @StMarysRFC lift the #EnergiaAIL Division 1A title, for the first time in 14 years, representing the club he first joined as an 18-year-old. A centurion this season, O’Gara has been central to the club’s journey in recent years, having been the standout top scorer when Mary’s secured the Division 1B title three seasons ago, ending a six-year absence from the top flight. Now, just two seasons after returning to Division 1A, they have climbed back to the summit once more. A consistent presence throughout the campaign, O’Gara amassed an impressive 208 points over the season. He rounded off that tally in style in the final at the Aviva Stadium, contributing five conversions and two penalties in the 46-31 victory over Clontarf. It was a fitting contribution from a long-serving player whose influence has been key to the club’s success, capping off a remarkable season with a well deserved league title.
