Our last Science Club of the term ended with a bang today as we made elephant toothpaste! Watch the yeast mixture react with the peroxide mixture to cause an exothermic reaction creating heat and foam that oozed out of the bottle like toothpasteβ€¦πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ§ͺπŸ§ͺπŸ§ͺ

Our Science Club created fireworks on a plate today using milk, food coloring, and a drop of dish soap! Soap molecules race around to bond with the fat droplets in milk, pushing the food coloring away, creating awesome, explosive bursts! πŸ‘©β€πŸ”¬πŸ‘¨β€πŸ”¬πŸ§ͺπŸŽ‡πŸŽ†

It was time for Year 4 to observe and record the results of our tooth decay experiment this week. Our prediction that the vinegar would cause the most damage to tooth enamel because of the acid was correct. πŸ¦·πŸ¦·πŸ‘¨β€πŸ”¬πŸ‘©β€πŸ”¬

Egg-citing Science in a year 4 today! We carried out a fair to investigate how different drinks affect tooth enamelβ€”using eggs as a model because eggshells are packed with calcium just like our teeth! We we will record our observations over time πŸ¦·πŸ¦·πŸ‘©β€πŸ”¬πŸ‘¨β€πŸ”¬β±οΈβ±οΈ

We took our learning outside in Science Club to test the famous Coke and Mentos reaction. By dropping Mentos into bottles of Diet Coke, we triggered rapid nucleationβ€”where the rough surface of the mints forces the dissolved carbon dioxide gas out of the liquid all at once 🧨🧨πŸ’₯
