TWO ANGELS IN THE TOMB.
One at the head. One at the foot.
Was that just a detail…
or a divine design?
When Mary Magdalene looked into Jesus’ empty tomb, she saw two angels seated where His body had been, one at the head and one at the foot
⚜ (John 20:12).
▪︎Now rewind to the Old Testament.
On the Ark of the Covenant, God commanded two cherubim to be placed on the cover, one on each side, facing the space between them, overshadowing the Mercy Seat
⚜ (Exodus 25:18–22).
▪︎Two angels.
A sacred space between them.
On the Ark, that space was the Mercy Seat, the meeting place where God’s presence and mercy were revealed.
In the tomb, the space between the angels was where the body of Jesus had lain, the place where His blood had been, the evidence that the sacrifice was complete.
▪︎The message?
The Ark was never the end of the story.
It was a shadow pointing forward.
Jesus is the true Mercy Seat, the place where God’s justice and mercy meet perfectly in one person.
What looked like an empty tomb
was actually a declaration:
the work is finished, the sacrifice accepted, the way to God opened.
Coincidence?
Or a divine connection written into Scripture from the very beginning?
