Saturday was a good day for Boca Chica Beach. 985 volunteers came out for International Coastal Cleanup Day and removed 2,880 lbs of trash from our shoreline. Boca Chica Beach is one of Starbase’s greatest assets, and we take our responsibility to protect it seriously. Last month, 12.1 tons of debris left by visitors were removed from the shoreline, including four car tires and a 5,000-gallon water tank. We are proud that the beach is cleaner than it was before we arrived, and regular grading at the entrance helps keep it that way by giving visitors safe access while keeping vehicles off the dunes.

Road and area closures begin at 10:15 AM today for a Booster 21 engine test. The test is expected between noon and 1 PM. You may hear a low rumbling and feel some vibration for a few minutes at most. That is normal and expected. The test is controlled and safe for the public. Please stay clear of closed areas until testing is complete. Thank you.

Calling all future explorers! Join @ChildrenMuseumB this Saturday, August 8 for a free Community Day from 10 AM–5 PM, with admission made possible by @SpaceX . Explore the Boca Chica to Mars exhibit, enjoy a full day of hands-on learning, and help inspire the next generation of explorers.

7+ miles of shoreline cleared. Over 12 days, crews hauled off 17 tons of plastic bottles, old tires, and other debris. That's about the weight of three adult elephants. The City of Starbase does not support the name change from ‘Boca Chica Beach.’ We think that the current beach name is appropriate.

Earlier this month, the City of Starbase was excited to support residents, local fishermen, @SpaceX volunteers, and @SeaTurtleInc in rescuing 266-lb loggerhead Arlen from Boca Chica Beach jetties. She’s since laid 60+ eggs, been tagged, and released into the Gulf.

Big futures start close to home.   Congrats to 11 outstanding @BrownsvilleISD and @PointIsabelISD students who earned scholarships from @SpaceX.   Today, a few recipients got a behind-the-scenes look at Starbase, met the SpaceX team, and experienced the innovation happening right here in our community.

Happy 1st Birthday, Starbase. One year ago today, Starbase officially became a city. In that time, we’ve hosted multiple Starship flight tests, grown our community of people building the future of spaceflight, and worked to protect our beaches and natural resources for generations to come. Next year will be even bigger. More launches. More progress. And we’re just getting started! Thank you to everyone who has been part of Starbase’s first year as a city.
