I’m horrified by the attack near the Sons of Jacob Synagogue in Ontario, on the eve of Yom Kippur. Thank you to the heroic police officer who protected the congregation. I wish him a speedy recovery. On my recent visit to Canada, I discussed with officials the importance of protecting the Jewish community. This includes educating against hate before it leads to violence. FBI New York recently met with Ambassador Kaploun, the U.S. Department of State Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism. As part of our priority to rebuild public trust, the FBI works alongside our federal, state, and local partners through outreach and information sharing. We interact regularly with faith-based communities, including the Jewish community, to make sure they understand potential threats and know how to communicate with us when concerns arise. Our outreach is about connection, not crisis. We want every community to know the FBI is a partner they can reach out to long before a concern becomes a threat.

Pleased to meet with American Syrian Jewish community leaders and Rabbi Raymond Sultan, recognized by Syrian Jewish community leaders from around the world.  The State Department looks forward to working closely together with Rabbi Sultan alongside the Syrian government to protect and preserve synagogues, cemeteries, and other cultural heritage sites from Syria's more than three-thousand-year-old Jewish history.
