Help me understand. The same media outlets that REFUSED TO FULLY BROADCAST Trump鈥檚 July 16, 2026 primetime speech: ABC NBC CNN MSNBC CBS PBS NOW want to lecture us about JOURNALISTIC INTEGRITY and the FIRST AMENDMENT because Trump told them their services are no longer required. YOU CAN鈥橳 MAKE THIS SHIT UP. I CAN鈥橳 STOP LAUGHING馃槀馃槀馃槀

Trump didn't ban these networks because of journalistic content or favorable/disfavorable coverage of him. He banned them because he said they were "fake news". Defamation, broadcasting false and defamatory facts, is not covered by the 1st Amendment for Free Press. Trump's best defense against fake news is to sue for defamation when it occurs.

If Trump bans only certain news outlets because of their reporting, their editorial stance, or their perceived hostility, that raises a potential First Amendment violation. If he bans them under neutral rules such as security clearance, attendance requirements, or conduct standards, it does not. The legality turns entirely on motive and consistency. A selective ban aimed at silencing critical coverage is constitutionally suspect. A selective ban grounded in neutral criteria is permissible.

Exactly. Motive is important. I'm confused myself. Why just these 3? The vast majority of news outlets are more left-leaning than right-leaning. And way more news outlets than these participated in the conspiracy of how they were going to spin news events to appear the worst for the President. Some of them weren't into the deliberate conspiracy but went along with what all the mainstream media was saying. Maybe he is just trying to see if he can get away with it. And since it is going to court and he isn't willing to be any more specific than "fake news", he doesn't expect to win and isn't that concerned. He appears much stronger as a president when he is able to face the press asking any kind of question. This differentiates him from Biden, who was the opposite.
