I have started development on the first affordable all in one network security device for small local businesses that offer wifi to their customers. Currently, their are no consumer grade devices that can defend against, or even alert to, an evil twin attack on an open wifi network. Enterprise level solutions exist, but cost $3,000 or more, plus licensing fees every month. My device not only alerts to these threats, but actively obtains digital fingerprints and prepares a report ready to hand to local law enforcement. The Giga Guardian will be open source and Raspberry Pi based so that any business may implement it on their own at cost if they have the technical understanding of how to do so, or sold as a mostly plug-and-play system, with easy GUI dashboards for custom configurations, all at a price small local businesses will be able to afford. Some rough news for IPFS this week. Protocol Labs pulled Shipyard's funding. So at the end of September, Kubo, Helia, Boxo, ipfs.io, dweb.link and the bootstrap nodes all lose the people keeping them alive. Their goodbye thanks everyone who believed content should be addressed by what it is rather than where it lives. I believe that too! But a hash only proves the bytes are the right bytes. It says nothing about who's paying for the server in the future. A lot of builders and artists skip this part. We have the same problem at ar.io. Gateways are machines, machines cost money, and goodwill ain't a business model. We didn't have to solve storage, that's Arweave's end. Our problem is who keeps serving it, and why they'd bother. The ar.io protocol pays gateways to serve, and every 24 hours a random set of observers checks whether they actually served the right bytes before anyone gets paid. Keep failing and you lose your stake. Not a perfect design, but in my humble opinion it's the only version of this that lasts a decade. Somebody's money has to be on the line. The stuff Shipyard wanted to build next and won't get to (HTTP-native, sustainable routing, big native SHA-256 objects) is the exact list we've been heads down on for months. Plain HTTPS, signed responses, gateways that re-chunk their own cache and repair it when the hash doesn't match... Oh, and human readable domain names for CIDs. Hope this work finds a new home. Flip to Task Manager, find Edge, expand the task. 3. Highlight the "browser" sub-task, right-click, and choose "Create Memory Dump." 4. Open the dump file and look for credentials. The logged-in Windows user can dump every stored Edge credential with no additional rights. Which means any malware that user executes has those credentials for the asking.
