BREAKING:
Per sources, following a TAPPS District Executive Committee Meeting this morning, Liberty Christian Football was found to have an ineligible player contributing to this year’s production. This decision was made via a unanimous vote by the member schools.
This leads to a suspension from athletic competition of the ineligible player, and associated coach, following a violation of the “follow the coach” rule.
Typically, under TAPPS Constitution Article VII; §137.III, this results in a forfeiture of all contests participated in by an ineligible athlete. However, at this time, it is being reported that there will be no forfeiture of games by Liberty Christian.
Per reports, several TAPPS Division I district 1 member schools are filing an appeal to assess forfeiture of games to Liberty, per the TAPPS by-laws.
This would be significant, as it would knock Liberty Christian, 5-0 in district play, and the current Division I title favorites, out of postseason play.
