Wondering how many Flat Earthers have reached out to the thousands of members of the Astronomical League over the years, offering to help them "re-measure" the distance to the sun. 🤔

A successful Earth flyby improves Juice’s course to Jupiter. Earlier today, @ESA_Juice flew just 8640 km above the Indian Ocean and snapped these images with its onboard monitoring cameras. 1️⃣Africa, by Juice monitoring camera 2️⃣Madagascar, by Juice NavCam 3️⃣Moon, by Juice NavCam

Point Nemo is the point furthest from any land, equidistant from three remote islands in the South Pacific. On a flat Earth disk, southern landmasses are stretched apart, breaking this geometry and creating massive distance discrepancies for sailors navigating the region. 🧵

Where is Point Nemo? Point Nemo is the location in the ocean that is farthest from land. 🔗 oceanservice.noaa.gov/facts/…

Point Nemo’s exact coordinates and real-world sailing routes physically depend on spherical geometry. On a flat Earth disk, southern ocean distances are massively distorted, making these navigation coordinates impossible. Point Nemo alone mathematically dismantles flat earth.

Could El Niño happen on a flat Earth? The short answer is no. El Niño isn’t just "warm water", it’s a massive disruption in global ocean and atmospheric currents. And those currents rely entirely on the physics of a rotating sphere. Let’s break it down. 🧵

On the surface, anchored ocean buoys (the TAO array) feed real-time wind and sub-surface temp data straight to scientists. Meteorologists also track the Southern Oscillation Index by comparing air pressure between Tahiti and Australia. If pressure drops in Tahiti, El Niño is on.

If Earth were truly stationary, we wouldn’t have a standard 24 hour day. A non spinning Earth in solar orbit means one daylight cycle takes a full year: 6 months of continuous, scorching sun followed by 6 months of pitch-black freezing darkness.

The Earth is moving. We don’t have to take it on faith, we measure it continuously down to the millimeter and millisecond. From space geodesy to orbital physics, here is how we prove both Earth's axial rotation and its orbit around the Sun. 🧵
