We were honoured to represent Kenya and Africa in the World Finals of the 35th Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot. The competition was held in Antalya, Turkiye, early this month. The team's valiant efforts concluded at the semi-finals, making them the second Kenyan team to ever have reached that far in the competition’s history. This follows our efforts in the 34th edition of the Moot in 2025. The team was comprised of: 1. Megan Njuguna. 2. Michelle Kombo. 3. Nigel Akilimali. 4. Elvis Cosmos. (Coach) 5. Paul Martin Konyango. Partnerships area about the people who bring them together and keep them going. At Strathmore Law School, partnerships play an important role in advancing our commitment to access to justice and the training of future legal professionals. They connect us with people and institutions whose knowledge and experience strengthen legal education and practice. Behind these relationships is our Partnerships Office, led by Allan Mukuki, Director, Partnerships and Internationalisation and Janet Njambi, Coordinator, National Partnerships, working alongside the wider School leadership. Through their work, we continues to build relationships with partners locally and internationally, creating opportunities for collaboration, learning and research. As we continue working with our partners, we recognise the people who nurture these relationships and help turn shared interests into work that strengthens legal education and advances access to justice.

Partnerships are built on people, shared purpose and a willingness to work together. We recently brought together its partners from government, legal practice, academia and civil society to reflect on our work together and discuss how we can strengthen these relationships. The discussions touched on several issues affecting the legal profession and legal education in Kenya. Artificial intelligence featured prominently, with panellists discussing its place in legal research and practice, the need for ethical use and regulation, and why human judgment and professional integrity must remain central. We also discussed the transition to Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and the importance of connecting what students learn in class with the realities of legal practice. This calls for closer collaboration between the School and practitioners to support mentorship, experiential learning and research. The conversation on access to justice highlighted opportunities for law schools and organisations such as Kituo cha Sheria to work together in supporting vulnerable communities, strengthening research and exploring new ways of making justice more accessible. Once more, Strathmore Law School continues breaking records. For the third consecutive year, a team of excellent mooters managed to retain the cup at the recently concluded Great Lakes Regional Training Program and Moot Court Competition. The team, comprised of Andrew R. Cheptumo and Faith M. Kyalo, both third year students, participated in the three-day competition, clinching the award for first place once more, a feat which was yet to be accomplished since the inception of the competition until now. They were guided by a team of seasoned coaches, led by Josephine Kairo, together with Emmanuel Macharia, Albert Macharia, Fiona Mwaura, Johny Kitheka, Ayaga Max Liambilah, together with the former champions from the 2024 and 2025 moots, namely Johnpaul Sifuma, Jonathan Lomole and fellow students coaches namely Philip Thomas Mboyah, Anthony Arika, Natasha Adhiambo, Ivan Kiriga, Amara Visram and Abigail Kenganzi Nimurungi. When Kiai Gachanja joined Strathmore University to study law, he had big ambitions, but he was still figuring out where they would take him. Today, he works as a Legal Affairs Officer in the Trade and Environment Division of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva, where his work brings together international trade law, environmental policy and global governance. The mooting journey at #StrathmoreLawSchool begins with the Cindy Wakio Internal Moot Court Competition, an annual competition that honours the legacy of Cindy Yvette Wakio. This year’s edition also celebrated the contributions of the late Eugene Kanyugo, an outstanding mooter, graduate assistant and coach who mentored generations of student advocates. This year’s competition was among the most fiercely contested, with students putting their best foot forward in legal research, written advocacy and oral arguments.
