I’m completely crestfallen by what I’ve seen of the training materials that are being developed for mandatory training. It’s like we are trying to make teachers worse.

This is the SEND training. I’m happy to take you through why I think it is very poor (and why that was inevitable) when it’s all public. Though I think it’s a hard point to land politically, I hope you and/ or Laura and team will be interested.

How so?

This was predictable but also for £200m I thought they’d make a better fist of it.

It’s smoke and mirrors so they can say… ‘But we trained them so it’s down to them’.

a novice teacher with about 5 minutes of training in Blank Canvas modelling can do a better job than this imo (it is better than a lot of educational videos, but low bar)

If one’s government was going to announce a load of new key stage four qualifications to start very soon, one would hope one’s government would announce where the qualified teachers are coming from. And what’s happened to the curriculum review.

Eh? Of course it's my opinion. Else I wouldn't have written it. There has been a great deal of progress since the PLTS and the last effort at 14-19. We seem to be back there. I know you somehow think everything will magically be OK this time, but there is no evidence it will be.

If someone talks about their school 'knowing what greater depth in history is', what should you think of them?

They study marine archeology on the titanic ?

And how is anyone going to be trained on a curriculum that hasn't been written?
