secondly, i want to reiterate what Lilly has said here. the censorship currently emerging in the UK is abhorrent and a flagrant attack on personal freedoms, bodily autonomy and the right of consenting adults to decide what they do and do not wish to engage with in their private lives. whether weβre talking about choking, incest fantasies or any other legal adult content, the government should not be in the business of dictating what consenting adults can watch based on its own moral sensibilities.
there is a fundamental difference between protecting people from genuine harm and imposing blanket censorship on content that some people find uncomfortable or distasteful. the former is a legitimate responsibility of government while the latter is an unacceptable overreach that sets a dangerous precedent for freedom of expression and individual liberty. no governing body should have the right to restrict content that two fully consenting adults partake in. i like to be choked while having sex and i like watching people get choked while having sex, so fucking what?
and as for the tired βitβs to save the childrenβ argument, iβm frankly sick of seeing it used as a convenient excuse to justify increasingly authoritarian restrictions on what adults are allowed to access. protecting children from genuinely harmful material is obviously important, but that does not mean every restriction imposed on adults magically becomes justified simply because someone invokes child safety. if the government wants to protect children, it should focus on effective age-appropriate safeguards, education and tackling actual abuse, rather than using children as a rhetorical shield to push through censorship that affects everyone.
think of it this way: with the way things are going, in a few years time when more kinks are outlawed, porn is banned outright, and VPNs are under restrictions (like theyβre fucking planning to do???), youβll wish you spoke out earlier.
to my UK folk: push back on these legislations as much as you can. write to your MP, sign petitions, post about it on social media frequently. they cannot be led to think that what they are doing is okay one iota. in the meantime, i want to make a recommendation.
@Windscribe is 100% my VPN of choice. you can get 10GB of free usage per month (15GB if you post about them to your twitter page), and the unlimited tier starts at just Β£3 for two countries and their bot (which i donβt use cause i donβt know what it is lmao). iβve used their service for a while and from what others have said, they keep no logs and are amongst the most secure VPNs out there. i am not being paid to say this and i am not endorsed by them in any way (DM tho guys i love you).
Normally donβt talk about politics much but if youβre from the UK (or not but still pay attention) I need you to give a fuck about this.
Youβre going to see a HEAVY drop in UK creators (some of which are the backbones of this community) and the porn they produce.
You also will be in trouble for possessing such content as well.
> What could happen to creators who post the content currently being banned after Nov 6th?:
γ»5 years imprisonment MAX
> What could happen to consumers who obtain the material after Nov 6th?:
γ»3 years imprisonment MAX
If you didnβt care about the heavy censorshipβs on porn that governments have been doing, you better fucking start now.
