August 2008: Russia invades Georgia. Its troops stay, and Moscow recognises two "independent states" on our land. July 2009: the G8 meets in L'Aquila. Russia's president is at the table. Nobody asks him to leave Georgia first. 2014: Crimea. Only then is Russia thrown out of the G8. 2026: Putin invited to the G20 in Miami, with his army still inside Ukraine. Every Georgian knows this cycle. Invade. Wait. Get invited back. The invitation isn't a reward for peace. It's proof that the next war is affordable.

Tell the whole story please. Leaving out South Ossetia is a little disingenuous .

Fair point, South Ossetia 2008 is part of the same pattern, not a separate story. Georgia, then Crimea in 2014, then the full invasion in 2022. If anything it strengthens the argument: this isn't a one-off, it's a track record.
