Black political power means a system that mimics the things that have worked for us before colonization, not one that mimics white supremacy.

In an effort to divide us, Black folks are told our politics aren't rooted in liberatory movements and that historically we haven't been connected to socialism or progressivism. They’re wrong. Yesterday at @cbcfinc, I hosted a panel on the Black radical tradition to recenter the fact that so many movements thoughout history have been to the left of the establishment. The coordinated attacks we’re seeing on our democracy, on Black politics, on economic justice are a reminder that the pathway forward is written in our past. Thank you to the incoming members who served as our panelists, to our moderator, and to everyone who joined us for a powerful discussion.

Congratulations @JustinJPearson on your primary victory! 61 years after the Voting Rights Act became law, our fight for democracy continues. Republicans' desperate, racist gerrymandering and attacks on voting rights remind us that the work goes to November and beyond. Our movement is ready to see it through.

People are looking for people-centered politics and the ability to choose their own representative without the influence of millions and millions of outside dollars. Candidates like @AbdulElSayed and @DonavanMI13 can deliver that.

Black leftists def have "a look" We look like W.E.B Dubois. A. Phillip Randolph. James Baldwin. Ella Baker. MLK. Davis and Hampton. SNCC and BPP. Slavery abolition, the Civil Rights, Black Power, and labor movements. In that light, the alternative just looks silly.

Imagine insisting the nice lady whose whole existence is educating, loving and fiercely advocating for children is evil just because she doesn't think some of them should be bombed or starved. Are yall ok?

Detroit & everyone deserves leadership that meets this moment. @DonavanMI13 knows fighting for the people means taking on AIPAC, Crypto & every billionaire standing in the way of Medicare for All, clean air & water, and lowering costs. From PA to MI, let's show them how we win.
I am honored to receive the endorsement of my sister in service, Representative Summer Lee. Our shared commitment to standing up for our communities unites us deeply, and I am thrilled to have a fighter like Summer join our people-powered coalition. Thank you, @SummerForPA !
