🎙️This week we discuss the rise of therapy speak. With the commonality of therapeutic language in modern discourse, we are dealing daily with medicalized terms for sin. Are they always wrong? Do they carry any meaning at all? Are they accurate or do they veil sin? ▶️Press play wherever you get your podcasts: sheologians.com/he-diagnosed…

For example, my Instagram feed this morning:
Please remember : your algorithm is tailored to what you spend your time on. If you are allowing yourself to spiral into your own little pool of rage bait, you can change that by changing your habits. My feed across all of my socials is *primarily* Books Pregnancy / baby topics Weightlifting for women People tripping and falling Cooking videos Music history Jokes about evangelicals ….because that’s actually what I will watch and interact with! Whenever my algorithm offers me rage bait, if I don’t immediately laugh at it, 9 times out of 10, I scroll away quickly. That’s me saying “no thanks” to the spiral. Start bookmarking stuff that’s good for you. Reply to posts you enjoyed. Share stuff that makes you happy. It will change your algorithm.

The thing I learned about myself in my first “geriatric pregnancy” is that I’m lifting weights for the love of the game. Whether I had energy or not, I was lifting weights. I was benching more than ever at 39 weeks 3 days. When I gave birth and had to take 2 weeks off from lifting weights, I was counting down the days. The first day I threw some dumbbells around was the happiest I felt since I gave birth. If you catch me talking about weightlifting, please just know I’m talking about my favorite hobby. I’m not here for looksmaxxing or something like that. I’m here because I’m having FUN. And I truly believe if it becomes a part of your routine, it’ll be one of your favorite hobbies, too.

There’s a section of my feed that suddenly discovered Brandon Flowers as if The Killers haven’t put out 5 great albums in the last 20 years.

We should NOT be sharing photos of Ellen Page shirtless just because she has mutilated herself and cut off her hair and calls herself a man. Stop sharing that.

🎉Well, it's official! Sheologians has been going for 10 years as of this week! Honestly hard to believe we have been doing this for a decade, but it has been such a blessing to us, and we are grateful for you all! To celebrate, we are offering the first 100 shoppers a 30% discount on all designs @ shop.sheologians.com. I'll also be running a few giveaways this week just because it sounds fun. :)

Flowers is a musician - raised Mormon in Las Vegas - he understands his country, his time, and his own strengths. He utilized all of that to produce something that isn’t being produced much anymore - truly American music.
Can someone who understands music explain to me why this song is so incredibly good? I’ve listened to the album cut 50+ times. It moves me deeply. I’m not even sure why. The imagery. The verse about Elvis & Lisa Marie. Masterful.

Summer Jaeger retweeted
This scene is why Breaking Bad is the greatest. Jesse tries to cope with his guilt over murdering a person by confessing to killing a “problem dog.” He’s afraid of facing the consequences of his actions, but even more afraid of living in a meaningless universe where he can commit acts of evil and not be punished. He’s grappling with the deeply human desire for justice and meaning, and all the group leader can do is offer modern “self-acceptance” therapeutic cliches in response which Jesse recognizes as utterly empty and useless. A scene straight out of a Dostoevsky novel. Jesse’s whole arc towards the end of the show is basically Raskolnikov in Crime and Punishment. Brilliant stuff.
