The NCAA is moving towards expanding the D1 hockey roster limit from 26 to 28. ASU currently offers up to 26 full-ride scholarships, with three of this season's 28 rostered players being so-called "designated student-athletes" who don't count against their scholarship cap.

And Matthew and his family are very much in our thoughts, in our prayers, and at the forefront of our minds as we try to prepare for a new season. The players and coaches and staff who work with the team, we are all affected by what has happened. And everybody is coping with this in different ways. 
 There is a tremendous university support system in place for help our student athletes and our staff, and whatever we may need. For us being with each other, both at the rink and away from the rink, is what is helping us most. Yesterday, the university shared its first report from senior vice president of educational outreach and student services to ASU President Michael Crowe regarding the team activity on August 20th. 
 There is also an ongoing ASU police investigation. I know there will be more questions about Matthew, and we won't be able to answer those today. Through three games, Kenny Dillingham has felt ASU's D-Line hasn't been shown enough love, specifically citing Jalen Thompson, Emar'rion Winston and Zac Swanson: "I think a lot of guys on our D-Line aren't being talked about and they're playing really good football."

Coming off a long road trip to College Station and London, Kenny Dillingham is using this bye week to have a lighter practice schedule, resting his guys and preparing for nine straight games after the bye: "We gotta get as healthy as possible going into nine straight."

Kenny Dillingham's evaluation of QB Cutter Boley through three games: "I think he's played well, he's taken care of the football. He hasn't had knock on wood a real interception. He hasn't just thrown the ball to the opponent one time in three games."

Kenny Dillingham wants to get Omarion Miller involved more downfield beyond just the screen game: "We said 'we gotta get him down the field'... I gotta do a better job, regardless of what the score is, to get O in a rhythm." @SunDevilSource

The ASU hockey workout which preceded the collapse of Matthew Mayich went beyond the scope of approved activities submitted by the team's coaching staff, according to the university's initial report on the internal investigation: "The ASU Hockey team coaching staff requested permission for Ziesel to speak to the team but did not submit a plan of training activities for review by ASU’s strength and conditioning coaches prior to the event." BREAKING: Khamari Anderson is confirmed out for the season, Kenny Dillingham said. It's a devastating blow for ASU's TE position and Anderson personally. He worked so hard to get back from a broken leg (his other leg) in April. Very unfortunate and unlucky.
