Never have designers touch your pitch deck.
I'm very opinionated on this: designers can't design a better deck than you can.
i) the deck should be so simple that there's nothing to design in the first place
ii) paying designers will just burn your money unnecessarily
iii) designers tend to make things pretty, whereas the deck has to be functional (UX > UI).
for example, they might put a pretty gray text on a lightgray background, which looks pretty and calm, but in practice is unreadable.
iv) designers never pitched to investors, and they don't know how they think (so can't design the best slide for them)
Your investor might be checking out your deck in an Uber drive with poor internet reception, while on a mobile phone and sleep deprived.
Designers by default assume investors look at decks on desktop screens and in a peaceful environment.
v) designers like to overdesign stuff - add pretty particles and elements in the background, cute images etc.
In reality neither of these things add value to whoever is checking out your deck.
vi) introducing a designer into the loop means you can't make instant changes in the deck but have to wait for the designer to apply your requested changes.
Closing words:
Your deck should be boring (design wise). Big text, readable font, almost no images, preferably black background and white font.
Don't reinvent the wheel, keep it simple stupid.
