Disgusting corruption.
Kimberly Guilfoyle was preparing for her congressional hearing to become U.S. ambassador to Greece when she reached out to a Trump donor with an urgent request: She needed $100,000 that she said she owed American Express—in a way that wouldn’t leave a paper trail. “It won’t show up anywhere if you wire money to American Express,” she wrote on Signal, according to messages reviewed by The Wall Street Journal. “Please.” Read story w/ dream team: @rebeccaballhaus @drewhinshaw @JoeWSJ wsj.com/politics/policy/guil…

As the HSBC whistleblower, I need to say something about whistleblower Simon Andriesz. @SAndriesz raised concerns at BGC Partners and was fired. He reported to the FBI in 2020 and 2021 that he believed Howard Lutnick had undeclared business ties to Jeffrey Epstein. Nothing happened. He took it to Congress. He spent years trying to get anyone to listen. He took his own life. He was 57. I spoke with Simon through Whistleblowers of America @WhistleP2P. He was serious and careful and worn down from being ignored. Now his case is in every headline, covered with an intensity he never saw while he was alive. That is the pattern, and I want to name it. We marginalize whistleblowers while they are breathing and discover them when they are dead. I know what Simon was carrying, because I carried it too. In 2012 I found out that HSBC would pay a fine and not one banker would go to prison. I had lost my job, my savings, and every door in my industry. I was living in a 300 square foot apartment with a Flemish Giant rabbit who had the run of the place. I had decided I was done. Right as I was about to do it, she hopped over to me. I thought: who is going to feed the rabbit? That question stopped me. Years later I named my company Tactical Rabbit. People think it is a clever brand. It is the reason I am alive. Here is what I want people to understand about how whistleblowers die. Simon's death was a suicide. I am not saying otherwise. But I have lived through what gets aimed at a person who exposes the powerful, and I will not pretend it is a coincidence when one of us does not make it. After HSBC I faced external threats from the same cartels and terrorist networks whose money I had reported. On top of that came the harassment, the bullying, the targeting, the psychological warfare that is designed to isolate you and make you doubt your own mind. It is not a side effect. It is the strategy. Its purpose is to break the person so the facts never matter. Sometimes it works. A lot of whistleblowers do not survive it. I nearly did not. So when I say the campaigns against whistleblowers are a kind of killing, I do not mean it literally, but I mean it. The people who run them know exactly what they are doing to a human being, and it should be treated as the crime it is. This is why I serve on the board of Whistleblowers of America. Everyone else focuses on the case. Whistleblowers of America on the person: the trauma, the mental pain, the years after the headline when the phone stops ringing. If you are a whistleblower reading this, or you are sitting on something and deciding whether to speak, hear me clearly. It gets dark. It also gets better. There are people who care about you and will stand beside you, and I am one of them. Reach out to me. Reach out to Whistleblowers of America. Reach out to anyone. Do not carry it alone. Simon, I am sorry the world listened too late. Rest in peace.

It took ProPublica reporters $45 and a flag to start a private school in Arkansas. No teaching experience. No background check. Nobody asked what they'd teach or how they'd measure whether kids were learning. Last month I showed you Alpha School getting rejected as a charter in Texas, then approved for the state's voucher program anyway. This is that same pipeline with even fewer guardrails. In Arkansas, the reporters registered an LLC online and got a certificate the same day. Then they applied to get public money as a microschool. It took about 10 minutes and two documents. No accreditation, no proof of financial solvency, and no cap on how many students they could enroll. They set their tuition at $7,208, the exact voucher amount per student. When they asked the state about it, an Education Department employee didn't reject them. He suggested ways they could still get the money. In West Virginia they filed on notebook paper. The state told them to take the "microschool route," where no one has any oversight. The department says it does not approve or deny microschools for any reason, including the qualifications of the owner. Unlimited students, by law. The reporters never took a dime and never enrolled a kid. But nothing stopped them from doing either. Arkansas has gone from under 100 private schools to more than 220 since its voucher program started, plus 143 microschools approved this year alone. Anyone can open one. The state can't stop you. And your tax dollars are paying for it all.

I noticed that there was a theme in some of the pro-Trump replies to my post involving the Lukoil scandal: "What about Hunter Biden?" Here's my response. The fourth point is particularly noteworthy. First, as a response to the case for investigating these transactions, this is a logical fallacy (tu quoque). Whatever Hunter Biden did does not in any way lessen the need to investigate these highly suspicious transactions involving the Trump family and senior Trump officials, particularly when some involve Russia, which, for all intents and purposes, is at war with the West. Second, Hunter Biden and his relationship with Burisma were investigated extensively. Those investigations identified legitimate concerns about the appearance of a conflict of interest, but did not establish that his position at Burisma improperly influenced U.S. policy toward Ukraine. Hunter Biden was subsequently prosecuted for unrelated tax and firearms offences. Third, Hunter Biden was a private citizen. He was not simultaneously conducting American foreign policy while participating in transactions from which he benefited. That distinction matters enormously. Fourth, the scale and nature of the current transactions are substantially different. We are talking about the proposed multibillion-dollar acquisition of Lukoil assets involving business partners of Witkoff and Kushner while Witkoff and Kushner are negotiating with Russia on behalf of the United States. The prospective investors include Moutaz and Ramez Al-Khayyat, who are involved with Kushner and Ivanka Trump in a multibillion-dollar resort project in Albania, and interests controlled by Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, whose business interests have also made major investments in Kushner's private-equity firm and World Liberty Financial, the cryptocurrency venture co-founded by Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, and Steve Witkoff's sons Zach and Alex Witkoff, and in which the Trump and Witkoff families have substantial financial interests. Then there is a Kazakhstan tungsten project potentially receiving up to $1.6 billion in U.S. government financing in which Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump acquired an indirect financial interest, and the $2 billion MGX investment in Binance using World Liberty Financial's USD1 stablecoin, followed months later by Trump's pardon of Binance founder Changpeng Zhao. Conflicts of interest should be investigated, and Hunter Biden was. Given the scale and magnitude of the Trump Cartel's (#trumpcartel) transactions, and the fact that members of the Cartel like Witkoff and Kushner are acting in an official capacity, an investigation is more than warranted, and there is some urgency.
