My name is Abood. I am 19 years old, and I never imagined that one day I would be telling my story from inside a tent instead of the home where I grew up.
Not long ago, my life was simple. I had dreams, plans, and hopes for the future, just like any young person. I looked forward to better days and believed that hard work and patience would help me build a good life. But everything changed in a moment.
I lost my home, the place where my most precious memories were made. I lost my father and my brother, and suddenly the life I knew disappeared. What remained were memories that I carry in my heart every day.
Since then, a tent has become my home. In the summer, the heat is overwhelming. In the winter, the cold and rain find their way through every opening. Days pass slowly, and each one brings new challenges. I try to stay strong for my mother, but there are nights when the weight of grief feels impossible to carry.
Sometimes, when the world is quiet and everyone is asleep, I sit alone and remember the life we once had. I remember my father’s smile, his advice, and the way he always encouraged me to keep going. I remember my brother and the dreams we shared. Those memories are painful, but they are also what keep me connected to the people I love.
There are moments when I feel invisible, as if the world has forgotten us. Yet despite everything, I continue to hold on to hope. Not because life is easy, but because hope is the only thing that cannot be taken away from me.
I am sharing my story because behind every tent, every statistic, and every headline, there is a human being with dreams, memories, and loved ones. We are not numbers. We are people who want to live with dignity, safety, and the chance to rebuild our lives.
If you are reading this, thank you for taking a moment to listen. Sometimes a story, a kind word, or simply sharing someone’s voice can make a difference. My hope is that one day no family will have to endure such loss, and that better days will come for all those who are suffering.

Four years ago, I graduated from high school with a 90% average, and I was supposed to have graduated from university by now too. 🎓
But the war and financial hardship delayed my dream, and I’m still studying and trying to finish my education.
