Feeling sentimental. After the game, went to a memorial service for a GREAT guy. Y’all would have loved him because everybody loved him. Was great to see a bunch of people I love.
I knew him from the neighborhood. Everybody fun knew him.
He had season tix, came to the tailgate. Really fun, encouraging guy. Think of THE MOST FUN GENEROUS GUY.
And the interesting thing is, I remember hanging out with him at games and having big fun, but I don’t remember one way or another who won those games.
Interesting as a concept of time and memory.
25th year. I think a lot about friends who have died or I can’t find.
Super generous awesome people, I shake my fist at losing such cool people. Then I realize I am super blest to know so many super generous awesome people. Very Houston.
Anyhow, obviously win probabilities are not good right now. (I prefer to speak in understatement because I personally find large displays of anger as the primary emotion after losing is not good for analysis, winning, the soul, fun, pretty much not good for anything).
Been my observation that people (people includes me) are often not their best selves during hard sports and life times. But sometimes they are. I want to thank those of you who hold it down irl.
All the best things that have ever happened in my life happened after challenging times. Doesn’t mean I needed bad times tho.
As I subscribe to Bum Phillips very Texas view that you don’t have to practice suffering.
Anyway as an expert on both good times and bad times, the best thing to do during bad times is not make it worse for yourself and others. Easier said than done. NMP = Not My Problem (except when it is)
Anyway, how my Houston heart feels right now is this. With what I know now, I super regret the things I have ever said in anger, even if, and especially if I was right. I don’t regret much but I do regret that.
I’ve had some real convos with people on this topic. It hurts more when the people you thought were friendly say things that rub it in, especially in Texas where gentlemanly behavior is valued.
There’s reasons why most professional, religious, philosophical codes are all about proper emotional regulation and the slow to anger stuff.
In any event, you be you. Memememes. Just sharing my overly online sports history from day 1. I don’t have many regrets but I do know plenty of people who wish they woulda dialed it down a bit.
Anyway he would have enjoyed his memorial because it was great to see so many extremely cool people at once.
Texans fans how are y'all feeling
