GROUP BY + aggregation is where SQL starts feeling powerful. SUM(quantity * price) GROUP BY order_id Instead of fetching everything and calculating totals in JavaScript, the database can perform the aggregation where the data lives.

COUNT(orders .id) โ‰  COUNT(*) With a LEFT JOIN, a user with zero orders still produces a row. So: COUNT(orders .id) โ†’ 0 while: COUNT(*) โ†’ 1 Small SQL detail. Big difference in real APIs. Day 1 done. Now onto transactions.
