Commend Beth Ann here. Been saying this for years, but apparently most golf media only wanted to talk about ratings when it was LIV.
Players need to know these numbers ...
The 2026 Solheim Cup's 39 percent drop in viewership from 2023 (Spain) raised alarm bells. (And to those who want to point to football, the 2023 Solheim was a little later in the NFL season.)
But honestly, the more I dug into it, the more concerning things got.
2022 -- average viewership on Golf Channel was 190,000 for the season.
2024 -- a year Nelly Korda won 7 times -- average Golf Channel viewership was 95,000.
2025 -- a year Nelly didn't win once -- average Golf Channel viewership was 97,000.
2026 -- Nelly dominated the first half of the season and Golf Channel ratings are up 4 percent from this time last year (average viewership of 122K).
Again, it's time for everyone involved to shift the focus from increased prize money and move it toward building an audience.
The tour just hired a new SVP of Marketing. Huge job. Will be interested to hear her strategy.
