NES about to screw the pooch again on storm prep. Saw those branches in Brentwood by Radnor touching the lines on all these clear days!
Here are the MAXIMUM WINDS to prepare for in association with Hurricane Isaias, which is expected to make landfall late Friday night or early Saturday.
By then, it'll be a high-end Category 1 or borderline Category 2 hurricane.
Hurricane-force winds sustained over 74 mph are likely at the coast, with some 85 to 95 mph gusts. This will be a risk for the outermost delta in Louisiana, locations near/east of Gulfport/Biloxi, Mobile Bay, Gulf Shores and parts of the Emerald Coast of Florida – especially Pensacola and Panama City Beach. Plan for power outages.
Mobile proper, Crestview, Tallahassee and perhaps Andalusia, Alabama – expect gusts 60 to 75 mph. Scattered to numerous power outages can be expected.
In the lighter pink, tropical storm-force winds (sustained or frequent gusts 39+ mph). A few gusts of 50-60 mph are possible. That will be enough to cause a few power outages and down some branches.
Winds decay inland due to the weakening storm and increased friction. When they're blowing off the water at the beaches, there's nothing to slow them down. We may have to further ramp up this forecast as new data comes in.
