Newly arrived refugees and asylum seekers who have been given ID papers can vote in local elections only 15 days after arrival 😳 So in effect a man could somehow find his way to Ireland, claim asylum or refugee status, been given identity/registration papers while he waits for his case to be heard and literally 15 days later is allowed to take part in the democratic process and elect local councillors.
