“Michael would accept telephone calls from desperate mothers. When told that a dying child's greatest wish was to meet the King of Pop, he would immediately make arrangements to visit that child with the gift of his presence.
"Why are you doing that?" Nordahl asked Michael, in disbelief when he realized that everything else was to be set aside in his friend's life while he went on a mission of mercy and love.
"How can I not?" Michael responded. "Michael Jackson is not really important to this dying child, but the King of Pop is, so he is going." Michael dressed up as the King of Pop and hurried to the sickbed of the little girl or boy whose hours were limited.
"I'll be back in a couple of weeks to see you again," he would pointedly tell the child, who would have the gift of something to look forward to. Michael never changed across the twenty-one years that I knew him," Nordahl reports. "He was the same person always. Michael cared more about others than himself.”
