Because markets are generally quite good at allocating limited resources and making things available cheaply. Bureaucracies are quite good at doing the opposite.

Free necessities that these things be managed almost completely by bureaucracy and be paid for by taxes. That means most of the cost of managing such programs goes to fraud and corruption - not to mention the inefficiencies of having to manually allocate the resources - and you the taxpayer get pennies on your dollar compared to a distributed market.

Not to mention that the consumers themselves tend to be more considerate when they have to spend a proportionate amount of their own resources to get something. A recurring problem in these social programs is that people use them more carelessly for trivialities and clog the system and make it more difficult for people who actually need it.

Oh yeah, another neat thing that kustvo.com does is it can track the original source of art. So like if an artist produces art through the commission process, kustvo knows where it came from. Duplicate uploads can be disabled or auto reference the artist.
