Tempe Police officers complete a survival swim in full gear before heading to boat school, including five minutes of treading water and a 200-meter swim. The Safe Streets for School Initiative wrapped up this month, with one goal in mind: supporting a safe start to the new school year. These efforts helped put an extra focus on safety during one of the busiest times of the year for our schools and roadways.

Friday evening, we gathered at the Tempe Healing Field for a candlelight vigil to honor and remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001. It was a heartfelt evening of remembrance, reflection, and honoring the strength and sacrifice of those who were impacted by that day.
