While British Columbians are already pushed to the brink by an unyielding affordability crisis, David Eby’s NDP is secretly plotting its next cash grab from everyday commuters. In quiet meetings, the Ministry of Finance, TransLink, and the Mayors’ Council are crafting a new vehicle levy and laying the groundwork for road pricing, deliberately hiding the details until after they try to push through a snap election.
This NDP government expects hard-working drivers to foot the bill for fiscal mismanagement while keeping the public completely in the dark. Such secrecy demonstrates a total disregard for the public, treating family budgets as a blank check for government spending.
Families across the province are already struggling to afford groceries, rent, and the basic cost of simply getting to work. The absolute last thing British Columbians need is another government raid on household finances, whether through a new vehicle fee or a charge on the daily commute, just for driving kids to school.
If the NDP is actively drawing up these plans, they need to stop hiding the details and come clean with the public immediately. British Columbians deserve absolute transparency, not a government that keeps the price tag a secret until the voting is over. Taxpayers have a right to know the truth: what exactly is this new vehicle levy, and how much will it cost families across British Columbia?
Voters will not be fooled by a government that hides the price tag today only to stick drivers with the bill tomorrow.

That press conference made B.C. look like a skit. A parody rapper as the warmup, and a Premier in an ill-fitting “Canadian dinner jacket.” They could have just done Monty Python’s Lumberjack Song and it would have felt more official.
Trudeau already wrecked the political-costume thing. I still like dressing up more than the next guy. But Eby just looked like he wanted out of that shirt.

Today marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Vancouver Police Department and the city we serve.
For the first time since 1978, the #VPD will be able to fully develop the next generation of police officers from the day they join us through graduation and into their careers.
Our new Police Academy will provide specialized, hands-on training to prepare recruits for the complex challenges of modern policing, including mental health and addictions, vulnerable populations, violent and organized crime, cybercrime, and public disorder. It allows us to develop recruits using the experience of Vancouver Police officers and to integrate classroom learning with realistic scenarios based on the challenges our members face every day.
We want our officers to meet—and exceed—provincial standards and be ready to serve Vancouver from their very first day on the job.
The success of this Academy won’t be measured by the facility. It will be measured by the quality of the officers who graduate from it.

In Alberta, a Middle school costs 46K/seat to build.
In BC?
114k/seat to build.
Let that sink in.......and ask yourself why.......and then ask yourself why this NDP government hasn't reigned in their own costs.
The NDP cancelled Long Term Care projects because costs got out of control.
Are schools next on the chopping block?
With school starting this week across the province I wanted to showcase Evanston Heights School. This brand new $43 million dollar school was completed in time for students to begin using it for their first day of school.
