This morning, I sent a letter to the Speaker requesting an emergency debate in response the demonstration that took place on Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc reserve by a dangerous white nationalist hate group, and in response to the UN Permanent People’s Tribunal, that was released on September 30th, 2026, calling on Canada to criminalize residential school denialism.
The escalation of residential school denialism is being fuelled by dangerous hate groups, poses a dire threat to the safety of survivors and Indigenous people.
It is critical that Parliamentarians take urgent action to respond to the surge of hate crimes against Indigenous people.
